Meet David Hoots, Principal

Experience

I began my career in education in 2009 as a teacher assistant at Saint Stephens Elementary School. The following year, I had the opportunity to become a special education teacher at SSE. I also worked as the teacher of a behavior cluster classroom at Tuttle Elementary School for one year before becoming the assistant principal at Snow Creek Elementary. In 2018, I became the Principal at Snow Creek Elementary School.

I have been fortunate to spend many years serving students and families in Catawba County Schools, and I am proud to now serve as the principal of Snow Creek Elementary. Snow Creek is a special place, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our students, families, teachers, and staff each day.

Why I Became an Educator

My parents inspired me to get into education, and this started at an early age. My mother worked in education for as long as I can remember as a substitute teacher, tutor, and secretary; and my father is a retired minister. At an early age, I was able to see the power there is in teaching, counseling, and mentoring young people and adults and how that can change people's lives. This is where my passion for helping others began, and that passion still remains one of my driving forces today.

Favorite Place in Catawba County

My favorite place in Catawba County is Lake Hickory.

Favorite Activities

I enjoy spending time with my family, watching sports, and being outdoors.

Something Unique About Me

I was a student manager of the North Carolina basketball team when they won the national championship in 2005.

Why I Chose Catawba County Schools

I joined Catawba County Schools because I want to make a difference in kids' lives. I am a product of the Catawba County School system, and I want to provide students with the same opportunities that I was fortunate enough to enjoy.

I am proud to be part of the Snow Creek family and look forward to continuing to work with our students, families, and staff to make Snow Creek a place where every child can learn, grow, and succeed.

Meet Ashley Williams, Assistant Principal!

Snow Creek families!

I am Ashley Williams, and I am proud to serve as the assistant principal of Snow Creek Elementary. With more than 20 years of experience in education, I bring a love of teaching, learning, and building relationships to my work each day.

My educational journey includes attending the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and East Carolina University. I hold a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in administration, and certification in curriculum and instruction. These experiences have shaped my approach to leadership and strengthened my commitment to supporting students and teachers.

I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and challenged to grow. Whether I am visiting classrooms, supporting teachers, celebrating student accomplishments, or partnering with families, my goal is to help our Panthers build confidence and discover what they can achieve. I am passionate about creating meaningful learning opportunities that encourage students to ask questions, persevere through challenges, and take pride in their progress.

Strong relationships are at the heart of a successful school. I value open communication and welcome your questions, ideas, and involvement. Together, we can create a school community where children feel supported and excited to learn.

Ashley C. Williams
Assistant Principal

Robyn Moore has been the Secretary at Snow Creek Elementary since the 2022–2023 school year. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry Management and a minor in Business. Mrs. Moore has over 15 years of experience in office management, as well as 10 years of experience in hospitality and customer service.

Mrs. Moore and her husband, Richy, were married in 2010 and were blessed with boy-girl twins in 2012. She serves as the Youth Coordinator at her church and also leads the Sunday morning service. Sports have always been a big part of her life, and as a mom of two active children, she has volunteered for several years coaching youth sports at the local YMCA.

One of the things Mrs. Moore enjoys most about working at Snow Creek is getting to know the students and their families. She loves being part of the Snow Creek family and feels blessed to work alongside such a wonderful community of educators and staff.

Something Unique About Me:
I have been around wrestling all my life, have coached both girls’ and boys’ soccer, and love being involved in my church and community.

My Favorite Thing About Snow Creek:
I love the relationships I have built with our students, families, and staff. Snow Creek truly feels like a family, and I am proud to be a part of it.

Anissa Eckard is the data manager at Snow Creek Elementary and Arndt Middle School. One of her most important duties is to enter and maintain all student information in Infinite Campus. She also enrolls students, completes daily attendance and processes report cards. If you ever need to update your child's information or have a question about attendance she will be happy to help you. She started with Catawba County Schools in 2005 when she became the data manager at Sweetwater Elementary. She worked there until the school closed in 2009 and has been the data manager at Snow Creek Elementary since then. She added the data manager position at Arndt Middle School in 2017. Prior to her employment with Catawba County Schools she worked in data entry for 14 years. She is a 1985 graduate of Newton-Conover High School and was born and raised in Catawba County. She lives in Conover with her husband Donnie and son Caleb. She is a big Carolina Panther fan and loves UNC Tar Heel basketball. When she is not watching a game, she's spending time with her family.

Hi, I’m Katie Abee, a School Nurse with Catawba County Public Health. I am excited to serve your students at Snow Creek Elementary School!

I’m in the school several days a week because children learn best when they are healthy. Routine health care promotes physical, social and emotional growth of children through the early detection, treatment and referral of health problems, illness prevention and education about common student health concerns. I also work to eliminate chronic health conditions as a barrier to achieving school success. Often, I serve as a connector between school staff, parents, students and health care providers.
